This installment of the Native Flute Creativity Workshop is for experienced players that have completed Creating Songs Parts 1 – 4 with Cornell.

Midday Music Mindfulness Meditation for flute players and other musicians ONLINE THREE Mondays in MAY 2025 at 12-noon Central Time

Use mindfulness and our musical instruments and our art to help relax, find calm in everyday life, and quiet distracting self-chatter.

We’ll meet the FIRST THREE Mondays in May (May 5, 12, 19).

Join Cornell Kinderknecht on Mondays at 12:00-12:30pm US Central Time, online through Zoom, for a mindfulness meditation practice with music.

Each online gathering includes:

  • Short introduction or instruction
  • Mindfulness session:
  • Guided meditation to connect with the breath and to help relax the body
  • Meditation with music
  • Invitation to bring your own music into your personal meditation (this is just for you, there’s no requirement to play for the group, your microphone will be off). You can also choose to sit silently, hum, write, paint, draw…
  • Sharing and discussion

WEDNESDAY Songs Pt. 6: Mood & Emotions – Four WEDNESDAY evenings beginning May 7, 2025 (this is for those who’ve completed parts 1 – 5)

Limited to 12 persons.

Develop our musical ideas into songs. Make your improvisations more melodic. Make your songs sound more free and fresh. Add feeling to music through melodic movement – landing points and direction. Touch upon basic harmony and harmonic playing on a melodic instrument.

This class is open to those who have completed parts 1 – 5 with Cornell. The main focus will be with Native flute but other world flutes are welcome.

Transverse Flute group class ONLINE – Three monthly Thursday afternoon sessions – May thru Jul 2025

This class meets online once a month through Zoom. Conducted in a seminar-style, Cornell will give tips and techniques to develop your transverse flute playing in a supportive group environment. The class and material are geared towards those who play another instrument are adding transverse flute to their skill set. Material is clear and easy to follow.

This class is on-going and is scheduled in sets of three sessions. Sign up now for our next series of sessions.

Bring your bansuri, bamboo flute, Irish flute, etc. Bring your questions.

ARS Second Level Online Recorder Class for Beginners (Mondays & Wednesdays, May 13 through May 22, 2025)

Second Level Learn to Play Soprano/Tenor Recorder with Cornell Kinderknecht

If you’ve taken one of ARS’ Online Beginners’ Courses for the soprano or tenor recorder, then you are ready for Level 2! If you didn’t master everything the first time around there will be plenty of review. In this second-level 4-part professional performer and teacher Cornell Kinderknecht will guide you in continued work on recorder technique and musical expression, extending our range and developing an even tone across all registers of our instrument.

We will be using lessons and pieces from The Sweet Pipes Recorder Book for Soprano, Book One.

This course is free for American Recorder Society members.
