Native Flute Player’s Workshop – Five FRIDAY afternoons – January 31 – March 7, 2025
For experienced players and songwriters who have completed Creating Songs levels 1-4 with Cornell and have been part of previous Friday afternoon sessions.
In this installment of the Native Flute Player’s Music Workshop, we’ll look further into creating music for solo flute, multiple flutes, or flute combined with other instruments. We’ll explore the tonal qualities of our various keyed flutes and how that affects our composition.
Some experience with notation, tablature and number systems will be helpful for this class. Native flutes and other world flute traditions are welcome.

Midday Music Mindfulness Meditation for flute players and other musicians ONLINE all Mondays in FEBRUARY 2025 at 12-noon Central Time
Use mindfulness and our musical instruments and our art to help relax, find calm in everyday life, and quiet distracting self-chatter.
We’ll meet all Mondays through the month.

Each online gathering includes:
- Short introduction or instruction
- Mindfulness session:
- Guided meditation to connect with the breath and to help relax the body
- Meditation with music
- Invitation to bring your own music into your personal meditation (this is just for you, there’s no requirement to play for the group, your microphone will be off). You can also choose to sit silently, hum, write, paint, draw…

This class meets online once a month through Zoom. Conducted in a seminar-style, Cornell will give tips and techniques to develop your transverse flute playing in a supportive group environment. The class and material are geared towards those who play another instrument are adding transverse flute to their skill set. Material is clear and easy to follow.
This class is on-going and is scheduled in sets of three sessions. Sign up now for our next series of sessions.

Creating Songs Pt. 2: Fine-tuning Songs & Improvisations – Four WEDNESDAY evenings beginning February 27, 2025 – ONLINE

Class size is limited to 15 persons.
This is a follow-up course to the Creating Songs course and is also open to those who’ve had some experience creating simple song structures around melodic ideas, like AB, ABA, etc. or improvising around those structures.
