For experienced players and songwriters who have completed Creating Songs levels 1-4 with Cornell and have been part of previous Friday afternoon sessions.
In this installment of the Native Flute Player’s Music Workshop, we’ll look further into creating music for solo flute, multiple flutes, or flute combined with other instruments. We’ll explore the tonal qualities of our various keyed flutes and how that affects our composition.
Some experience with notation, tablature and number systems will be helpful for this class. Native flutes and other world flute traditions are welcome.

Renaissance music with The Wireless Consort at Kimbell Art Museum
Art and War in the Renaissance: The Battle of Pavia Tapestries marks the first time that this entire cycle of seven large-scale tapestries—some of the most awe-inspiring examples of this often-overlooked artform—has been on view in the United States.

This class meets online once a month through Zoom. Conducted in a seminar-style, Cornell will give tips and techniques to develop your transverse flute playing in a supportive group environment. The class and material are geared towards those who play another instrument are adding transverse flute to their skill set. Material is clear and easy to follow.

Please join us for a beautiful and gentle practice to help you come to peace in the present moment, releasing worry, anger and fear in the body while opening to compassion. In a state of deep relaxation, we will connect with the earth, our physical ancestors and our spiritual ancestors through a ritual called “touching the earth” (a mindful practice from Thich Nhat Hanh). Facilitated by Bobbie Perkins and Cornell Kinderknecht.
Wear comfortable clothes. Mats, cushions and blankets are available but bring your own if you prefer. Chair seating is also available.

Limited to 20 persons.
Develop our musical ideas into songs. Play with direction and flow when improvising. Work with songwriting and song structure basics as well as unique and fun ways to come up with melodies. The ability to read music is not required for this course but it is helpful to have some experience with tablature, numbering or notation systems.
This class is open to those with some playing experience. The main focus will be with Native flute but other world flutes are welcome.
